Practice Meditation This Summer With MBSR

This summer, the Mindful Astoria community and the Astoria First Presbyterian Church will offer an 8-week course in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the curriculum developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness.

Over the course of eight weeks, we will learn several different forms of mindfulness practices such as mindful breathing, walking meditation, and mindful movement. We will practice bringing mindfulness into daily activities, stressful situations, self-care, work, relationships, communication, and more.

Important dates:

Orientation: Monday June 22, 7-9:30pm, required for participation in the course. If you cannot attend orientation you must schedule a makeup orientation with the instructor.

Classes: 8 Monday nights 7-9:30pm, June 29-Aug 24 (skip July 27); daylong retreat Saturday August 18th 10am-5pm

Course fee:

Early bird $315 before June 15.

$325 after June 15.

10 students minimum, 16 maximum.

In the event that the course sells out prior to orientation, a waitlist will be available.

Refund policy:

Notice of cancellation by Thursday June 25: Full refund minus $20 processing fee.

Notice of cancellation by Tuesday June 30: 50% of the course fee will be refunded.

Notice of cancellation after Tuesday June 30: No refunds will be granted.
